Introduction

Service images are the photos that appear beside a service on your booking page. Clients see the first one as a thumbnail in the service list, and can open the full set when they tap the service. Each service holds up to 5 images. They are display only: an image never changes a price, a duration, availability, or anything about the booking itself.

Key features

  • Up to 5 images per service, in an order you choose
  • The first image is the one clients see in the service list
  • Drag to reorder, so you decide which photo leads
  • Clients can tap any image to view it larger, with zoom
  • Bundles pick up imagery automatically from the services they include
  • iPhone HEIC photos are converted for you, and large files are compressed on upload

Adding images to a service

The Images tab appears once a service is saved, so create the service first, then reopen it.
  1. Go to Catalogue and click Services
  2. Click the service you want to add photos to
  3. Open the Images tab (the last one, after Variants)
  4. Drag your photos onto the dropzone, or click Upload and pick them
  5. Each tile shows a tick when that photo has saved
There is no Save step for images. Each one saves on its own as it uploads, and the tiles are your confirmation.
Creating a service does not offer an Images tab, because there is nothing to attach the photos to until the service exists. Save the service, reopen it, and the tab is there.

What to upload

  • Formats: JPG, PNG, WebP, or iPhone HEIC
  • Minimum size: 600 x 400 px, measured on the photo you pick rather than the compressed version
  • Maximum file size: 20 MB per photo
  • Maximum of 5 images per service.
Every image is converted to WebP at up to 1800 px wide, and its location data is stripped. So a photo straight off a phone is fine, and a photo taken at your business does not publish where that is. If a photo cannot be used, it is skipped and a message names the file and the reason. Photos that uploaded before it stay saved, so a problem with the last photo never costs you the first two.

Choosing which photo leads

The first image is the thumbnail in the service list, so its order matters more than the rest.
  • Drag a tile by its handle to move it
  • Or use Move left and Move right in the tile’s menu
  • Tile 1 carries a Shown in list caption, so you can always see which photo clients meet first
The new order saves as soon as you drop the tile.

Removing an image

Click the remove button in the top corner of a tile. The photo comes off the service straight away, and off your booking page on its next load. Removing the last image is how you turn the feature off for a service. There is no separate switch: a service with no images simply shows none.

What clients see

In the service list. A small square photo beside each service, using its first image. Once any service or bundle in your catalogue has a photo, every row in the list gets a photo square, and rows without one show a plain placeholder. That keeps the list looking even rather than stepping in and out. A catalogue where nothing has a photo shows no photo squares at all. When they open a service. A row of larger images above the description, which scrolls sideways when there are several. Tapping one opens it full size with zoom.

Bundles

A bundle has no Images tab, and nothing to upload. It shows one lead image from each of the services it includes, in the order those services run. So a “Spa Day” made of a facial, a massage and a manicure shows the first photo from each of those three. Add a photo to the facial and it appears on the bundle as well, along with every other bundle that includes it.
  • The bundle’s list thumbnail is the first photo it can find, working through its services in order
  • A service included twice contributes one photo, not two
  • A bundle whose services have no photos shows the standard placeholder
  • A bundle set to hide its individual services still shows the photos, but they are labelled with the bundle’s name only, so the services it hides are never named

Copying services to another location

When you copy a service to another location, its images are copied too. The new location gets its own copies, so later removing a photo at one location leaves the other untouched. Copying with Overwrite replaces the target service’s images with the source service’s, and only once every photo has copied across. If the service you are copying from has no photos, the target service ends up with none either, the same way Overwrite replaces every other field. Copying with Skip leaves the target service exactly as it was.

Importing services

Images are not part of the service CSV import: a photo is not something a spreadsheet can hold. Import your service menu first, then add photos to the services that need them. See Bulk import.

These are easy to mix up, so it is worth being clear about which is which. Service images belong to one service. The Gallery is your business’s own set of photos and is not tied to any service. Client photos are records, usually before and after, and never appear on your booking page.

FAQ

The tab only appears on a saved service. If you are in the middle of creating one, save it first, then open it again from the Services list.
Not directly. A bundle shows a lead photo from each service it includes, so add the photos to those services and every bundle containing them picks them up.
No. Photos sit on the service, and clients see them while they are choosing it, which is before they pick a variant or an add-on.
The smallest we accept is 600 x 400 px. That is measured on the photo you picked, not on the compressed version, so a large photo is never rejected for being shrunk.
They are compressed to WebP on upload, sized to what each screen needs, and loaded as the client scrolls to them.
Anyone whose role can manage the catalogue. A role with view-only catalogue access sees the photos on the Services list but cannot open a service to change them.
